Dar es Salaam has secured two major honours at the Nane Nane Eastern Zone Exhibitions held in Morogoro, demonstrating the region’s growing contribution to agriculture, trade, food processing and technological innovation.
The Dar es Salaam City Council was first declared the leading council within the Dar es Salaam Region before emerging as the overall winner among participating councils from the Eastern Zone.
The double victory reflects the quality of the exhibitions, innovations and economic opportunities presented by Dar es Salaam during the annual agricultural event.
Ilala Leads Dar es Salaam’s Successful Exhibition
Dar es Salaam was represented through Ilala, which showcased various economic activities, innovations and investment opportunities available across the city.
Although Dar es Salaam is best known as Tanzania’s commercial capital, its strong performance demonstrated the city’s important role in agricultural value addition, food processing, manufacturing, distribution and technology.
Ilala’s exhibition highlighted how urban councils can support agricultural development by connecting farmers and processors with consumers, distributors, financial institutions and larger markets.

Nane Nane Brings Key Economic Sectors Together
The Nane Nane Eastern Zone Exhibitions brought together stakeholders from agriculture, livestock keeping, fisheries, commerce and technology.
Farmers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, processors and government institutions used the event to showcase products, services, equipment and practical solutions designed to improve production and create new economic opportunities.
The exhibitions also allowed participating businesses to meet potential customers, distributors and investors while learning about emerging technologies and market trends.
Through these interactions, Nane Nane continues to strengthen cooperation between producers, government institutions, researchers, private companies and consumers.

Apollos Participates in Nane Nane 2026
Among the businesses representing Dar es Salaam was Apollos, a Tanzanian company involved in local food processing and the production of consumer food products.
Apollos showcased its range of locally processed products while interacting with farmers, customers, traders, distributors and other stakeholders attending the exhibitions.
The company emerged as a best exhibitor, an achievement that recognised its presentation, product quality, innovation and contribution to Tanzania’s food-processing industry.
Apollos’ recognition added to Dar es Salaam’s successful participation and demonstrated how local enterprises can use national exhibitions to introduce their products to wider markets.

A Platform for Tanzania’s Economic Development
Nane Nane remains an important platform for celebrating Tanzania’s agricultural achievements while encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and investment.
The exhibitions give farmers and businesses an opportunity to build new partnerships, reach more customers and identify solutions that can improve productivity.

Dar es Salaam’s double victory, together with the recognition received by exhibitors such as Apollos, highlights the value of cooperation between local authorities, entrepreneurs and the private sector in advancing Tanzania’s economic development.
